Police seek community help after fatal shooting of teenagers in Champaign

Champaign Police are seeking the public's help in investigating a shooting that occurred overnight, resulting in the death of one teenager and leaving another critically injured. The incident took place on June 29, 2025, at an unspecified address on Holly Hill Drive.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting with injuries at 12:01 a.m. Upon arrival, they found two sixteen-year-old males from Champaign unconscious in the front yard of a residence in the 1500-block of Holly Hill. Both had sustained potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. The officers provided medical aid with assistance from the Champaign Fire Department before transporting the teens to a local hospital. One victim later died from his injuries, while the other remains in critical condition.
