Champaign Police were dispatched at 12:34 a.m. on June 27, 2024, to the 700 Block of Mattis Avenue for a report of a shooting with injuries. On arrival, officers located a 25-year-old male victim from Champaign with potentially life-threatening injuries from gunshot wounds to the upper leg. Officers and personnel from the Champaign Fire Department immediately rendered medical aid until the man could be transported to an area hospital. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.
