Gymnasts Mia Takekawa and Mia Townes have been recognized by the College Sport Communicators (CSC) as part of the Academic All-District At-Large list. This announcement was made on Tuesday.

Eligibility for this award requires a nominee to maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher, be enrolled full-time, and be at least a sophomore in both academic and athletic standing. Additionally, gymnasts must rank within the top 75 in an event within their division according to Road to Nationals.

Mia Takekawa pursued her master's degree in bioengineering while achieving an Academic All-Big Ten nod for the fourth consecutive year. The Sacramento, California native also earned her fourth First Team All-Big Ten honor.

Mia Townes completed her master's degree in strategic brand communication and received her fourth-straight Academic All-Big Ten award.

Both athletes were integral members of the Illini lineup during their final seasons, participating in all 16 meets. They secured spots on the All-Championships Team at the Big Ten Championships and contributed to leading their team to its 20th-consecutive NCAA regional appearance at the end of the 2024 season.
