State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) said that, while Gov. J.B. Pritzker makes a good speech, he does not agree with the Governor's proposals announced during his budget address last week.
Rose said he strongly disagreed with the governor and felt particularly frustrated with Pritzker's the tax increase proposal.
"We just had the largest tax increase in state history and it’s never enough," Rose said. "You’re basically asking for another tax increase to justify $1.6 billion in spending. It’s got to stop eventually."
The state senator questioned when tax increases will end.
Most Republican lawmakers expressed disappointment with the governor's proposal and oppose the budget being predicated on a tax increase that has yet to be approved by voters.
