U.S. Representative Mary Miller, who serves Illinois’ 15th district, posted a series of statements on July 21, 2025, addressing gender-affirming surgeries for minors, recent legislative developments in Illinois, and her recognition as a proponent of limited government.
In a post published at 13:09 UTC, Miller stated: "Children should never be subjected to gender-mutilating surgeries. I’m glad to see hospitals across the country taking action to end this abusive practice. It should be illegal."
Later that day at 16:20 UTC, she commented on the passage of new legislation affecting employment in Illinois: "With the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill, 252,000 full-time jobs in Illinois will be PROTECTED — jobs that were at risk without codifying President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Remember, every Democrat in Illinois voted against this."
At 17:50 UTC on the same day, Miller shared her appreciation for being recognized by @leganalysis: "It’s an honor to be recognized as a Champion of Limited Government by @leganalysis. Our Founders entrusted us with a Republic that is limited and built to serve YOU, the people. I’ll keep fighting every day to protect your freedoms and preserve America’s founding principles."
Mary Miller has represented Illinois's 15th District in Congress since 2021 after succeeding John Shimkus. She was born in Oak Park, Illinois in 1959 and currently resides in Oakland. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois University.
