Village of Homer Personnel Committee met October 30.
Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:
Attending: Ray Cunningham, Joe Bear, Ryan Byerley, Charles Montgomery, Zach Wells, Barb Rumor, Mike Johnson, Sharon Jeffers and Ed Shirley.
Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm.
The Committee went into executive session to review new employees for their 90 day evaluation. The Committee met with Barb Rumor and Ryan Byerley.
The committee came out of executive session at 7:48 pm.
The Committee decided that we would try to hire a full time person, rather than a part time person for the maintenance department.
The Committee discusses a plan by Ed Shirley to become salaried rather than hourly. He proposed an $800 salary for his work. This would be $9600 annually with hourly at $23.50 for any additional work.
Sharon Jeffers discussed with the committee the future of the Village Clerk position. Issues of increased Work load and issues of Salary were discussed.
The Personnel Committee will make the following recommendations to the board:
• Subject to budget the hiring of a full time maintenance person
• Ed Shirley to have $800 a month salary with overtime if necessary at $23.50
• The Village Clerk to become full time at a date to be determined; the Village Clerk Title to be changed to Village Clerk and Village Manager; the clerk's salary is to be raised to $46,800 annually ($22.50 hourly) and insurance and $500 per year retirement added.
The committee adjourned at 8:25 pm.
