An ordinance calling for the Champaign County Clerk to abate certain tax levies for the General Corporate Fund was passed Dec. 14 by a vote of seven participants, including Mayor Laurel Lunt Prussing, and filed Wednesday.
Originally, Ordinance No. 2015-12-117 determined that the tax levy for the city of Urbana for the FY 2015-16 would be $7.25 million. The Corporate Authorities have now concluded that an appropriate total tax levy rate for the city for that time period is instead $1.3550.
The finance director has been authorized by the ordinance to perform all acts necessary on behalf of the city of Urbana, and the city clerk was directed to file a copy of the ordinance by Dec. 29.
The ordinance was approved by a majority of the Corporate Authorities on Dec. 14 and signed by Prussing on Dec. 18.
