The Champaign County board met Thursday night to hear updates from its various committees, consider several appointments, and hear presentations on the condition of county facilities and the status of the county's re-entry program.
The board voted on seven appointments, including three new potential members to the Public Aid Appeals Committee. Bryan Wrona, Andrew Quarnstrom and Bernie Magsamen received two-year terms. The board will also approved Tami Fruhling-Voges and Cathy Lentz for three-year terms on the Senior Services Advisory Committee.
The board heard a presentation updating the county on its re-entry program, which provides a variety of training and planning services to help inmates who will soon be released or have recently been released from jail or prison re-acclimate to society. The program's services include help with housing, job search, education, health services, mental health services, and counseling. The program's goal is to help participants stay out of jail or prison once released and give them the tools to make positive contributions to their communities.
Champaign designer and architect Bailey Edward also presenteds findings from an assessment of the county's facilities.
