Residents of Champaign County will have the opportunity to dispose of electronic waste at the upcoming Countywide Residential Electronics Collection (CREC) event scheduled for Saturday, October 11, 2025. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Parkland College.

Registration for the event opens on Monday, September 1, 2025. Residents are required to register online in advance at https://ecycle.simplybook.me/. During registration, participants can select a 15-minute time slot within the event hours. After reserving a time, residents will receive confirmation by email or text message and a postcard ticket in the mail about two weeks before the event.

A detailed list of accepted and non-accepted items is available on the registration website. Each household may bring up to four televisions and no more than seven total items. Registered attendees must use the Duncan Road entrance to access Parkland College during the collection.

The CREC is co-sponsored by several local entities: City of Champaign, City of Urbana, Champaign County, Champaign County Court & Probation Services, and Village of Savoy. Organizers state that "The CREC event will go ahead rain or shine. Severe weather will increase the wait times but wait time should still be minimal."

Online registration remains open until all slots are filled. Those needing help with registration can contact Nichole Millage, Environmental Sustainability Specialist for the City of Champaign, at 1-217-403-4780 or via email.
