Village of Vermilion County Board met May 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The County Board of Vermilion County, State of Illinois met in the County Board Room in the Vermilion County Administration Building in the City of Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois.

Upon call of the roll, 23 were present, 4 absent. Mr. Green, Mr. Hart were excused. Mr. A. J. Wright, Mr. Dan Wright absent.

Invocation: Jim Russell

Mr. Morse led the Pledge of Allegiance

ADOPTION OR AMENDMENT TO THE AGENDA

Chairman Baughn entertained a motion to approve the agenda as presented: Motion made by Mr. Morse. Second by Ms. Witzel. Motion carried by acclamation.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Chairman Baughn entertained a motion to approve minutes as presented. Motion made by Mr. Eakle. Second by Ms. Butler. Motion carried by acclamation.

REPORT ON CLAIMS -APRIL 2019

Chairman Baughn entertained a motion to dispense with the reading of the Report on Claims and place on file. Moved by Mr. Fourez. Second by Mr. Bird.

Upon call of the roll, 23 voted yes, 4 absent. Motion carried.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS

Mr. Arthur Cronkhite spoke on the legalization of marijuana as well as the health benefits.

PROCLAMATION-MAY MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

Chairman Baughn proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month. Executive Director of the Vermilion County Mental Health 708 Board Mr. Jim Russell spoke on breaking the stigma of mental health disease as well as provided tips to help everyone understand what they can do as an individual to help.

Mr. Fourez reported that the Finance Committee met last night. They reviewed the month end finances and there are no red flags. The revenue is slightly behind however the new property tax collections should kick in and balance it out.

B. ORDINANCE: AMENDMENT TO THE COMBINED ANNUAL BUDGET AND

APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE FOR THE STATES ATTORNEY-$10,000

Mr. Fourez entertained a motion to dispense with the reading and approve the passage as presented. Moved by Mr. Fourez. Second by Mr. Bird.

Committee Chairperson’s Comments: Mr. Baughn commented that tax bills will be in the mail this week, Executive committee will meet this month and Mr. Stark will be presenting longevity awards next month. Mr. Nesbit stated the Public Safety committee will be meeting tomorrow at the Public Safety Building at 5p.m. all are welcome to attend, Fourez-regular monthly meeting, Golden-nothing at this time, Eakle-nothing at this time, Walls-nothing at this time, Mr. Bieritz-no meeting scheduled, Mr. Morse-nothing at this time.
