Village of Vermilion Transportation Committee met May 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Agenda Item 1 - Call to Order and Roll Call

Committee Chairman Joe Eakle called the Transportation Committee of the Vermilion County Board to order at 5:30 p.m.

Upon the call of roll, the following committee members were present: Joe Eakle, Mitch Weaver, Craig Golden, Chuck Nesbitt, and Greg Thatcher. Adam Hart and AJ Wright were excused. 5 present and 2 absent at roll call. Also attending the meeting: Larry Baughn-Vermilion County Chairman, Adrian Greenwell - Highway Dept, Bill Donahue, Risk Consultant, and Jennifer Jenkins, County Board.

Agenda Item 2 - Adoption of the Agenda

Weaver moved, second by Golden, to adopt the agenda. Motion passed by acclamation.

Agenda Item 3 - Approval of the April 16, 2019 Minutes

Golden moved, second by Nesbitt, to adopt the minutes. Motion passed by acclamation.

Agenda Item 4 - Audience Comments

There were none.

Agenda Item 5 – Review of Bills

Greenwell explained that all is tracking as it should be. The Highway Dept. ordered the 2 pickups this last week. All vehicle purchase money for the year is extinguished.

Agenda Item 6 – Resolution County Bridge Fund 062 McKendree Twp. Section 19-11126-00-DR

This is for a pipe installation. The heavy rains lately has caused this to overflow quite a bit. There was a slope failure due to this. Greenwell shared a few photos indicating the significance. The Highway Dept is beginning the repair process. They have met with 5 local contractors and are awaiting the quotes. This amount is aid to the township.

Golden made a motion to pass the resolution, seconded by Weaver.

Upon a roll call vote the following voted yes to wit: Eakle, Weaver, Golden, Nesbitt, and Thatcher. 5 yes, 2 absent.

Agenda Item 7 – Low Bid Award – County Striping Contract Section 19-00000-05-GM to Varsity Striping, County MFT Fund 008, Letting held May 8,2019

Greenwell explained that this is for different roads throughout the County. Different roads are repaired each year. There is a rotation each year. There were two bid packets presented.

Weaver made a motion to pass the resolution, seconded by Nesbitt. Upon a roll call vote the following voted yes to wit: Eakle, Weaver, Golden, Nesbitt, and Thatcher. 5 yes, 2 absent.

Agenda Item 8 – Executive Session

There was no need for an executive session

Agenda Item 9 – Items of Information

Eakle shared with the committee that a few of the road commissioners from the County, went up and assisted South Ross Township with the repair of a few roads in the last week. The road commissioner for South Ross is recovering from surgery and the other road commissioners wanted to lend a helping hand.

Nesbitt indicated that he noticed a Vermilion County Highway Dept. employee utilizing their cell phone while driving. He asked that Greenwell reiterate to the employees within his department that this is illegal.

Greenwell shared that the legislature is working on an MFT funding increase. He has heard that it could be $.25 but that is not for sure. Vermilion County Highway Dept has been asked by Illinois State Representative Marron and Senator Barickman to come up with a list of projects if this does come up sooner rather than later.

Agenda Item 12 – Adjournment of Meeting

Being no further business, Committee Chairman Eakle adjourned the meeting at 5:20 P.M.
