Champaign City Council issued the following announcement on June 29.

Tracy Parsons (City of Champaign’s Community Relations Manager) hosted a special meeting of the Community Coalition on June 28, 2018, at the Douglass Branch Library. The meeting was organized to address the recent incidents of gun violence over the last several weekends. The meeting focused on three areas: concerns, strengths and actions. Vacellia Clark (City of Urbana’s Human Relations Officer) facilitated the meeting which was attended by approximately 70 people. Attendees had the opportunity to share challenges and ideas for addressing the issue. The Community Coalition will provide a summary of the results of the meeting and plan to have another meeting before the end of the summer.
