Urbana's Market at the Square Market Manager Natalie Kenny-Marquez is now a certified market manager, following the completion of a 35-hour program.

Kenny-Marquez is one of 185 people across the country who have completed the training. This latest round, co-sponsored by the Michigan Farmers Market Association and the Illinois Farmers Market Association, covered capacity building, licensing and regulations, food assistance programs, collecting market data, grant writing and other topics.

“As one of the largest producer-only farmers markets in the state of Illinois it is important that Urbana’s farmers market remain at the forefront of the local food movement,” Kenny-Marquez said. “Having a professional market manager is one way that we can remain in that role and continue to operate a vibrant farmers market for our vendors, patrons, and community.”
