The Urbana City Council unanimously passed a resolution Monday calling on state leaders to do whatever may be necessary to ensure the state's community colleges and land-grant colleges and universities remain fully funded.
The resolution is a reaction to the state's ongoing budget stalemate.
In the resolution, council members emphasized the value of Illinois higher education to the state, country and world and insisted lawmakers come up with a revenue stream specifically for higher education to help separate the stability of higher education funding from the rest of the state budget.
