Fighting Illini junior Max Herendeen has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week after his performance at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational in Saucier, Mississippi, from October 19 to 21. The Big Ten Conference announced the recognition on Thursday.

Herendeen finished as runner-up at the tournament, helping Illinois secure third place in a competitive field. He recorded a season-best score of 204 (-12), with rounds of 69, 69, and 66. His final round of 66 (-6) was also his best of the season.

During the event, Herendeen played par or better on 64 out of 72 holes and made 18 birdies along with one eagle. This result marked his eleventh top-five finish in collegiate competition.

He ended the fall season with a stroke average of 68.92, which is currently ahead of the Illinois single-season record set by Adrien Dumont de Chassart in 2022-23. Herendeen also lowered his career stroke average to 70.61, putting him on pace to break another record held by Dumont de Chassart.

This is Herendeen's second time earning Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors in his career, but it is his first this season and also marks the first such award for an Illinois player during the 2025-26 campaign.
