Chambana Sun

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Piatt County Il Clerk & Elections Division on February 5, 2025. The request, filed by us at Chambana Sun, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought detailed information about the candidates running in the upcoming election.

Specifically, we requested a list of all candidates that are running for office in the forthcoming election. This list should include each candidate's first name, middle name, last name, the office they are running for, the jurisdiction of that office and their party affiliation.

In addition to this basic information about each candidate, we also asked for all available contact information for each individual. This includes their address, phone number and email address.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these public records is essential. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, it is our professional responsibility to provide this level of scrutiny. We have therefore requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

We await a response from the Piatt County Il Clerk & Elections Division regarding our request.
