Rep. Mary Miller, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’s 15th District since 2021, made a series of posts on July 16, 2025, criticizing the National Education Association (NEA) and its leadership.

On July 16, Miller posted a tweet that read simply: https://t.co/Cp015mHoKS.

Later that day, she published another post in which she stated: "The nation's largest teachers' union is a radical political machine, run by an unhinged lunatic, Becky Pringle, who openly brags about indoctrinating our kids. It's time to rip up their federal charter and shut this INSANITY down!! https://t.co/lA3ap59lcW".

In her final post of the day, Miller wrote: "The NEA is a radical, anti-American group that has declared war on parents and children. They’re pushing gender propaganda, promoting antisemitism, and bankrolling the Democrat Party. I joined @RepMarkHarrisNC and @Moms4Liberty to END their federal charter! WATCH: https://t.co/KWmtwcA8i9".

The NEA is the nation’s largest teachers’ union. Becky Pringle currently serves as its president. In recent years, the NEA has been involved in national debates over educational policy and curriculum content.

Mary Miller succeeded John Shimkus in Congress in 2021 and has represented Illinois’s 15th district since then. Born in Oak Park, Illinois in 1959 and now residing in Oakland at age 63, Miller graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
