Q4 2019 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Champaign County?

There were 80 offenders released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2019 that live in Champaign County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Chambana Sun.

The data shows that 73 men and seven women were released in Champaign County. Of the parolees, four were veterans, and the median age was 37. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2019, and the oldest was a 78-year-old man sentenced for a crime against one or more children in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Ronnie Carroll. He was convicted of a property crime in 1988 when he was 24 years old. He is now 56.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the fourth quarter of 2019 in each Champaign County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
