City of Hoopeston Regular Council met May 2.
Here is the minutes as provided by the council:
I.Call to order
Mayor Crusinberrycalled to order the regular council meeting of the City of Hoopeston at 7:00 P.M. on May 2, 2017 at City Hall.
II.Roll call
Clerk Laneconducted a roll call. The following six council members were present: Anderson, Ankenbrand, Florek, Goodwine, Hamilton and Houmes. McElhaney and Yaden were absent. Attorney Brougher was present.
III. Elected Officials Sworn In
Clerk Lane Swore in Mayor Crusinberry who administered the Oath of Office to the remaining elected officials.
IV. Approval of Agenda
Alderman Houmes moved to approve the agenda seconded by Ankenbrand. Agenda was approved 6-0.
V.Approval of Minutes
Alderman Houmes moved to approve reading of minutes seconded by Florek. Minutes were approved as read 6-0.
VI.Presentations
Compliance Officer Mike Bane reported on the work he has been doing and announced a Tire Collection to be held.
VII.Payment of Bills
Alderman Houmes moved to approve payment of bills seconded by Florek. Roll call vote was taken and bills were approved for payment 6-0.
VIII.Reports of Officers
a)Alderwoman Florek had nothing to report.
b)Alderman Goodwine made the motion to engage Russell Leigh and Associates to perform the annual audit. Houmes seconded the motion. Roll call vote taken and the motion passed 6-0.
c)Alderman Hamilton had nothing to report.
d)Alderman Houmes reported that the Parks department will hold a meeting Tuesday May 9 at 6:30 to discuss camper issues.
e)Alderman Anderson announced sidewalk bids to be open May 15. He also reported that he has discussed some clean up of the ditch at the railroad bed that may help with water drainage.

XIII.Mayor Comments
New committee assignments have been made.
Representative Bennett’s constituent meeting has been changed to Monday June 5 from 5 to 6:30 P.M.
Congressman Shimkus’ traveling help desk will have hours on Tuesday May 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at City Hall.
A new deadline for bids for storm retention lagoon clean up is May 15.
XIV. Public Comment
Stan Steiner asked about contamination of the lagoon from the tire fire.
He also asked about building permits for garages and questioned where to locate rules for setbacks, etc.
XV. Executive Session
Hamilton moved to go into Executive Session to discuss land acquisition seconded by Houmes. Council went into Executive Session at 7:27 p.m.
Hamilton moved to come out of Executive Session seconded by Ankenbrand. Council came out of Executive Session at 8:05 p.m.
Houmes moved to adjourn seconded by Anderson. Council adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
