Shooting investigation underway after robbery at Champaign hotel

Champaign Police were dispatched at 11:28 p.m. on June 5, 2024, to a hotel in the 900 block of W. Bloomington Road for a report of a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old male victim from Tolono with a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest. The man was conscious and alert while officers and personnel from the Champaign Fire Department immediately rendered medical aid until he could be transported to an area hospital. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.
