Starting August 29, 2025, Paula Drive will be closed to vehicles at the intersection with Cynthia Drive as part of the Garden Hills Phase 3 Project. Between August 29 and September 1, residents will have access to their driveways except when construction equipment is in use on the roadway. Beginning September 2, driveway access will be removed for all residents in the affected area.

Residents may park on nearby streets where parking is allowed but not within the construction zone. Pedestrian access to homes will remain available during construction.

The closure is expected to last six to eight weeks, though this timeline could change depending on weather conditions. The City of Champaign stated that additional lane or road closures are anticipated as work continues through other phases of the project.

"Starting Friday, August 29, 2025, Paula Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic at the intersection of Paula Drive and Cynthia Drive.  From August 29, to September 1, residents should have access to their driveways when construction equipment is not being used in the roadway. Starting September 2, all access to driveways will be removed. Residents will be able to park on the street where street parking is available, but not within the construction zone. Pedestrian access to all homes will be maintained throughout construction."

"This new closure is expected to take 6-8 weeks. This work is weather dependent and may be delayed in the event of inclement weather. More lane and/or road closures will be announced throughout the phases of the project."

Further updates about closures related to this project are expected from city officials as work progresses.
