Five former Fighting Illini golfers are competing in professional tournaments this week. They are participating in events on the PGA TOUR and the Korn Ferry Tour.
On the PGA TOUR, two tournaments are taking place. The RBC Heritage, which is one of eight Signature Events of the season, will be held at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Among the competitors is Thomas Detry, who is ranked 30th in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). He will be joined by his former University of Illinois teammate, Brian Campbell. Both players recently participated in their first Masters, where Campbell finished strong in 32nd place with a final round score of 68 on Sunday.
"Brian Campbell closes out his Masters debut with a final round 68," announced Illinois Men's Golf on Twitter on April 13, 2025.
Detry and Campbell currently hold 13th and 35th positions, respectively, in the FedEx Cup rankings.
Another event, the Corales Puntacana Championship, will take place at Puntacana Resort in the Dominican Republic. Nick Hardy, another former Illini golfer, is competing in this event for the fifth time. He achieved a 13th place finish in this tournament in 2023.
On the Korn Ferry Tour, Luke Guthrie and Adrien Dumont de Chassart will participate in the LECOM Suncoast Classic at Lakewood National Golf Club in Florida. Guthrie aims to make the cut for the fourth time out of his eight starts this season. Adrien Dumont de Chassart will be participating in this event for the first time, marking his third Korn Ferry Tour start this season.
