University of Illinois senior linebacker Kenenna Odeluga and head football coach Bret Bielema have been nominated for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. This nomination, announced by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), recognizes individuals in college football who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service and leadership beyond the field.
The 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team has seen a record-breaking number of 197 nominees, highlighting the dedication of student-athletes and coaches from all levels of college football. "I've been a part of this team, and these players aren't just showing up; they're standing out," said Sam Acho, ESPN analyst and former NFL linebacker.
Kenenna Odeluga has made significant contributions through various initiatives. He founded Illinois' Afro-Tailgate to provide cultural experiences for African students, sponsored tickets for community groups, launched an African Heritage Scholarship at his high school alma mater, and participated in numerous volunteer activities. Additionally, he serves as a co-leader for EMPOWER and is a member of the Illinois Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Bret Bielema has actively contributed to the Champaign-Urbana community since becoming head coach at Illinois. His efforts include donations through programs like FamILLy First Backpack and School Supply Drive and supporting local organizations such as Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club. This marks Bielema's second consecutive year as an AFCA Good Works Team nominee.
