Illinois infielder Ava Moore has been recognized on D1Softball's D100 Freshman Watch List, as announced by the publication. The list for 2025 features players from 50 different programs.
Head coach Tyra Perry praised Moore's attributes, stating, "When it comes to toughness, coachability and the will to win, Ava Moore is one of the best of her class. Ava is the kind of player that is constantly soaking up information. She is internally motivated and approaches each training session with intent. Ava plays the game of softball with an intensity that makes us proud that she is on our team."
Moore's high school career at Tecumseh High School in Ohio was notable. She was a three-year varsity letter winner and received multiple accolades including the Allstate Insurance Good Hands award three times. Additionally, she was named to the All-Central Buckeye Conference team in 2021-22 and 2024. In her senior year, Moore achieved First Team All Southwest District honors while batting .548 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs. This marked her third season batting over .500.
Beyond softball, Moore is also a three-time Ohio State Taekwondo Champion.
The Fighting Illini will commence their 2025 season against CSU Bakersfield in Orlando, Florida on February 7.
