Illinois hosts wrestling dinner theater honoring championship team

Tickets are now available for the Fighting Illini wrestling home opener against Missouri on November 21. The event will be held in the Lot 31 Stadium Club tent and features a buffet dinner and pre-match entertainment. It also commemorates the 20th anniversary of the 2005 Big Ten Championship team. Doors open at 5 p.m., with entertainment starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the dual at 7 p.m. CT.

The Fighting Illini's lineup includes four returning All-Americans, four former NCAA Championships qualifiers, and a Big Ten Champion. Lucas Byrd, a two-time All-American at 133 pounds, began his redshirt senior season with a major decision win over Marcel Lopez from SIUE. Edmond Ruth, last year's Big Ten Champion and All-American at 174 pounds, secured an overtime victory against Deron Pulliam (SIUE).

All-American twins Danny Braunagel and Zac Braunagel opened their season with technical fall victories in their respective weight classes. Danny defeated Griffin Ray (SIUE) while Zac overcame Nick Nosler (SIUE). First-time NCAA Championships qualifier Danny Pucino achieved a major decision win over Danny Martinez (SIUE), while Jason Kraisser pinned Brock Woodcock in just over two minutes. Luke Luffman returned to action with a major decision victory against Bryson Buhk (SIUE).
