City of Gibson City Council met May 27

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Dickey in City Hall Council Chambers.

Motion to approve Minutes of May 12th, 2025, made by Alderman Roesch, Alderman Hankes seconded the motion, motion carried 7/0.
Committee Reports: No Comments
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Lorenzen presented the April 2025 report.
Approval of Bills:
Motion made by Alderman Hankes to pay 1 TIF-2 checks in the amount of $ $3435.50, 2nd made by Alderman Roesch, motion carried 7/0.
Motion made by Alderman Miller to pay General Fund checks in the amount of $239,850.94, 2nd made by Alderman Wyant, motion carried 7/0.
New Business:
A. Supt. Bobera, presented the need for improvements for Wastewater Equipment. Items needed include base cabinets for the new wastewater plant. Secondly, a multi-purpose dump trailer.
Alderman Wyant made a motion to approve these purchases, not to exceed $30,000; 2nd made by Alderman Roesch. Motion carried 7/0.
B. Chief Rosendahl explained the need for a new squad car, which was built into the budget. The state bid for a 2024 Dodge Durango was $44,979. Additionally, it would require $38,000 to be outfitted with the required lights and equipment. There are two squad cars, that are out of service, which will be sold, and that money will be returned. Motion made by Alderman Tongate made a motion to approve this purchase, not to exceed $85,000. 2nd made by
Alderman Miller. Motion carried 7/0.
C. Discussion and Consideration of Downtown TIF Façade applications for the following businesses:
• Gibson City Restoration Assoc: Total Grant up to $20,000
• The Fashion Shop: Total Grant up to $30,000
• Strictly Kids Resale Shop: Total Grant up to $10,000
• Eric Lundquist: Total Grant up to $10,000
Alderman Hankes made a motion to approve the $20,000 for GC Restoration. 2nd by Alderman Tongate. Alderman Wyant abstained due to owning property in the TIF district.
Alderman Roesch made a motion to approve $30,000 for the Fashion Shop, 2nd by Alderman Miller.
Motion passed 7/0, including Mayor Dickey’s vote. Alderman Wyant abstained due to owning property in the TIF district.
Alderman Roesch made a motion to approve $10,000 for Strictly Kids, 2nd by Alderman Miller. Motion passed 7/0, including Mayor Dickey’s vote. Alderman Wyant abstained due to owning property in the TIF district.
Alderman Roesch made a motion to approve $10,000 for Eric Lundquist (west 8th St), 2nd by Alderman Tongate. Motion passed 7/0, including Mayor Dickey’s vote. Alderman Wyant abstained due to owning property in the TIF district.
E. Motion to adjourn made by Alderman Davis, 2nd by Alderman Miller, all in favor, meeting adjourned.
