Illinois women's tennis secures third straight win against Penn State

The Illinois women's tennis team achieved a 4-1 victory against Penn State, marking their third consecutive win. This triumph, led by head coach Evan Clark, brought the Illini's record against Penn State to 6-1. With this result, Illinois improved to an overall record of 16-7 and an 8-2 standing in Big Ten matches, while Penn State now stands at 5-15 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

In doubles action, Illinois secured the doubles point for the 14th time this season. The newly formed pair of Josie Frazier and Alice Xu won their match at No. 3 doubles with a score of 6-3. Meanwhile, Kasia Treiber and McKenna Schaefbauer claimed a victory at No. 2 doubles with a score of 6-4.

Schaefbauer continued her strong performance by winning her singles match in straight sets at No. 2 singles, extending her team-best singles record to 16-7 for the season. Frazier followed suit with a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles.

Penn State managed to secure a point with a win at No. 1 singles but Treiber clinched the match for Illinois with a three-set victory at No. 5 singles, marking her seventh clinch of the season.

Illinois is set to conclude its regular season with a match against Ohio State on April 21.
