Lucas Byrd and Luke Luffman have been recognized by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their academic achievements, earning spots on the Academic All-District At-Large list. This recognition was announced on June 17.
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District honor, nominees must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50, complete at least one full calendar year at their current institution, and be sophomores both academically and athletically. Additionally, wrestlers need to participate in a minimum of 70 percent of team scoring matches or compete in their weight class at a conference championship meet.
Byrd's achievement comes after his first national and Big Ten title win at 133 pounds. The Cincinnati native has also been named an Academic All-Big Ten recipient three times previously. Similarly, Luffman receives this distinction for the first time in his career as well. Hailing from Urbana, Illinois, he is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten recipient.
