Illinois baseball team continued their impressive run with an 11-7 victory over Northwestern, completing a series sweep at Illinois Field. The win marks the Illini's seventh consecutive triumph, matching their season-high streak.
Coltin Quagliano was a standout performer for Illinois, going 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs. Connor Milton also contributed significantly, hitting 3-for-5 with two runs, a double, a home run, and three RBIs. Camden Janik added to the team's power display by hitting a grand slam.
Regan Hall secured the win from the bullpen, improving his record to 2-1 for the season. Hall pitched five innings, allowing two runs on one hit while striking out three batters. Korey Bunselmeyer also had a notable performance in relief, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings and giving up just one hit.
Northwestern initially took the lead in the first inning, but Illinois quickly tied it in the second inning thanks to an RBI single from Quagliano. The Illini then gained control of the game with additional contributions from Quagliano and Milton in subsequent innings.
Despite Northwestern's efforts to close the gap in later innings, including scoring three runs in the ninth inning, Illinois maintained their lead to secure an 11-7 victory.
The Fighting Illini will continue their homestand with a midweek game against Western Illinois on Tuesday at Illinois Field.
