Head Coach Brad Underwood has announced that Ben Humrichous will join the University of Illinois Fighting Illini basketball program as a graduate transfer. Humrichous, a forward standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 220 pounds, hails from Tipton, Indiana. He spent three seasons at NAIA Huntington University before transitioning to NCAA Division I last season with Evansville. There, he quickly made his mark on the Purple Aces team.

Humrichous was recognized for his performance by being named to the Missouri Valley Conference's All-Newcomer Team and earning the title of MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Underwood expressed enthusiasm about Humrichous joining the team: "We're excited with the addition of Ben, a grad transfer who has tremendous college experience and is a talented, versatile, offensive player."

During his time at Evansville, Humrichous started all 24 games he played in and led the team in scoring with an average of 14.7 points per game. He was also second in rebounding with an average of 4.7 boards per contest. His shooting prowess was evident as he made a team-high 53 three-pointers and achieved a 41.4% success rate from beyond the arc.

Underwood highlighted Humrichous' skills: "He is an elite shooter at 6-9; can shoot off the dribble, off screens, pick-and-pops, and play in post ups and isolations."

In addition to his shooting ability, Humrichous scored in double figures 19 times during his season at Evansville and recorded four games with over 20 points. His career-high came with a 28-point performance against Chattanooga.

Before his stint at Evansville, Humrichous played for Huntington University where he helped lead the Foresters to two consecutive NAIA Tournament appearances.
