The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a school in the 2500 block of Galen Dr. on Tuesday, June 11, at 2:35 p.m. Fire crews were able to quickly get the fire under control.

Firefighters responded to a report from an occupant of a fire initially believed to be contained to a bathroom vent fan. Once on the scene, fire crews reported staff had safely evacuated all the students and went inside to investigate. Firefighters found the fire had extended beyond the bathroom vent fan and deployed multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire.

The cause of this fire was accidental and attributed to the failure of a bathroom vent fan. There were no occupant or firefighter injuries reported.
