Champaign Police were dispatched at 7:31 p.m. on February 19, 2024, to the 700 block of W. Vine Street for a report of a shooting with injuries. According to the police department's statement, a 34-year-old Champaign man was found with multiple potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds after being shot while seated in his vehicle in his driveway. The victim was later transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he is currently in stable condition.
The initial investigation revealed that an unknown individual approached the man's vehicle and opened fire before fleeing the scene on foot. Additionally, the vehicle itself was also damaged by the gunfire. As officers continue to gather information, they are urging any residents or businesses in the vicinity with exterior surveillance cameras to come forward with any potentially valuable footage.
