Village of Pesotum Board of Trustees met Jan. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order 

Village President, Joyce Ragle, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. Pledge of Allegiance and Roll Call 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and roll call taken. Present was Village President,  Joyce Ragle, Village Trustees, Dee Ann Hoffman, Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth, Nathan Nierenhausen, and Janice Thomas, Village Trustee and ESDA Coordinator, Rob Russian, Village Maintenance, Rob Wood, Village Treasurer, Melanie Schultz, and Village Clerk, Christine Conner. Absent were Village Trustee, Todd Jamison, and Village Building Inspector, Lyle Reed.

3. Presentations/Comments from the General Public – None

5. New Business

5.1. Discussion of terms related to anticipated Ordinance establishing a Paid Time Off Policy under the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act. Ideas expressed are to only have one Village Maintenance person off at a time.  A Minimum standard time will need to be set for making the request to the Village President. The Village will follow State Law. Documentation for bookkeeping/accounting will need to be determined.

5.2. Another meeting will be needed to discuss Building Codes, including solar panels. Rob Russian has obtained some information from Tuscola’s Fire Chief, Brian Moody, and will have more information at the February Study Session Meeting.

5.3. Permission to be obtained from Building Inspector, Lyle Reed, to place notice on the Village Facebook page to see if there may be someone interested in replacing him.  

6. Presentations/Comments from the Board

Village President, Joyce Ragle, and Village Treasurer, Melanie Schultz, will not be present at the Village Board of Trustees Regular Meeting on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

Joyce Ragle reported Anthony Moore from Republic contacted her about having a municipal contract for the Village. The Board is not in favor of having one contractor for garbage pickup.

Nathan Nierenhausen asked about upgrading the playground equipment at Hartman Park and also  adding a playground on the west side of the Village.

The Spikes baseball team has not approached the Village about using the ball diamond this year.

Rob Wood was given approval to get the window in the front of the Community Building replaced. Previous quote was $400 to $450 from Bacon & Van Buskirk.  

There is a car with an expired license plate that has not moved in more than six months at 201 S. Hickory St.

7.2 Next Village Board of Trustees Study Session, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, 6:30 p.m.

Adjournment

Dee Ann Hoffman made a motion to adjourn. Jennifer Gumbel-Paeth seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
