Rantoul City School District 137 issued the following announcement on Mar. 19.
Rantoul Township High School is going to take an adaptive pause for our athletic programs for a period of one week and then we will evaluate our current COVID cases along with those in quarantine. It is the responsibility of our district to make sure that we put the safety of our students ahead of sports. The precaution that we have decided to take as an administrative team will give us a better opportunity to get our athletes competing sooner than later. An update to the status of our athletic programs will be made no later than Tuesday, March 23rd and that information will be disseminated to all outlets necessary.
As of now, school will be in session on Tuesday, March 23rd as an in-person learning day for the purple group of students. We are only putting sports on hold at this time.
