City of Hoopeston Historic Preservation Commission met Nov. 10
Here is the minutes provided by the commission:
I. Meeting was called to order at 7:03pm
II. Roll Call - 7 members present: Brad Hardcastle, Debbie Benjamin, Ellen Scharlach, Jeanette Andre’, Kristy Kelnhofer, Marta Pierce and Valarie Hinkle.
III. Election of Commission Officers –
A) Motion made by Marta Pierce to elect Brad Hardcastle as Chairperson of the commission. Jeanette Andre’ seconded. Motion passed 7-0.
B) Motion made by Debbie Benjamin to elect Kristy Kelnhofer as Vice-Chairperson. Jeanette Andre’ seconded. Motion passed 7-0.
C) Motion made by Debbie Benjamin to elect Marta Pierce as Secretary. Jeanette Andre’ seconded. Motion passed 7-0.
IV. Committees – Events, Fundraising, Historical, Volunteers, July 3rd, Executive, Marketing. Debbie Benjamin motioned to break committees into 7 categories so each member would have a committee to chair. Valarie Hinkle seconded. Motion passed 7-0. Chairperson Hardcastle asked each member to volunteer for a committee. Also reminded members that all sub-committee meetings will have to follow the Open Meetings Act, including posting a meeting at least 48hours prior, to the public and to the media. Please notify the secretary of all meetings.
A) Fundraising Chair: Ellen Scharlach, co-chair Marta Pierce
B) Events Chair: Co-Chair Valarie Hinkle & Jeanette Andre’
C) Volunteer Chair: Marta Pierce
D) Historical Chair: Kristy Kelnhofer
E) July 3rd Events: Debbie Benjamin
F) Marketing Chair: Jeanette Andre’
G) Executive Chair: Brad Hardcastle
V. Logo Contest – Just the Facts is sponsoring, awarding the winner $100. Other local media outlets have also posted the information. Deadline is December 1st,2020.
VI. Fundraising – The commission will need funds to start advertising etc., need ideas. A gun or meat raffle was mentioned.
VII. Comments by Chairperson Hardcastle:
A. An email was established for the group to use, historicalpreservation@cityofhoopeston.com
B. Next meeting: Tuesday, November 24 at 7pm. If anyone is interested in virtual meeting let Brad know. December 8th meeting – logo selection.
VIII. Adjourn: Motion made by Valarie, a second by Kristy. Motion was passed, meeting adjourned
