Q2 2020 Recap: Parolees in Vermilion County convicted of crimes against the government

There were two offenders convicted of crimes against the government released on parole in Vermilion County during the second quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Chambana Sun.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes against the government was 36. The younger parolee was a 30-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 42-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Christopher Whitfield. He was convicted in 2019 when he was 41 years old. He is now 42.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
