Village of Rantoul Human Relations Committee met Oct. 7.

Domestic Violence Awareness
VI. Training for committee members
Open to board members as discussed in previous meeting.
Possibility of outside cities giving pointers for our members to attend the training realtors and landlords attend.
Q- Meeting on Wednesdays a good day to meet?
Q- A refresher course on Robert’s Rule?
A- Everyone should be familiar on what they can and can’t do to make sure are all on the same page. Counsel can discuss procedurally what we can do regarding open meetings act and concepts of what makes up a committee.
Q-How in depth can we go with basic procedures to have order and ensure meetings run smoothly?
A- We have live recording today, but is generally not applicable under open meetings act. We will keep going with this procedure as best we can with COVID restrictions.
Q- Can we update the microphone?
A- Due to costs we will not at this time.
VII. Questions regarding Board Ordinance
Original ordinance had 5 members, was changed to 7 members. Discussion for Vice Chair-Person in case chair not here.
-Counsel stated there is usually a formal vote or choose one that day.
-Possibility to Vet members and terms limits.
-Mission statement removal from original ordinance; Mayor would like to focus on housing transportation and credit.
VIII. Intake complaint form
Q- Changing of sex orientation in verbiage?
Verbiage already falls into standards and policies.
IX. Information for committee
Information placed online for notary and address where to drop off the intake form.
Discussed secretary pay and duties once the ordinance is put together. Meetings will then be monthly or quarterly.
X. Closed session
Same as before. Has to be public record.
Will secretary need to redact information when presenting to the committee?
A- Counsel will look into it.
Q- Discussed once there is a secretary, process in which the intake form is taken and whether Ken will see it or not.
Q- Is form submission available online?
A- No, must have notary present.

October 28, at 6:15 pm.
