CHAMPAIGN CITY COUNCIL: Neighborhood Small Grant Program Aids in Storm Cleanup

Sekani

Champaign City Council issued the following announcement on July 27.

On June 10, the Ironwood and Copper Ridge subdivisions were hit by a tornado that caused damage to properties in the area. In order to efficiently remove debris from the neighborhoods, both Home Owners Association boards applied for Neighborhood Small Grant funds to host neighborhood cleanup events. A total of $2,196 was utilized to rent five dumpsters over three weekends. Residents worked together to remove nearly 25 tons of debris from the neighborhoods. According to reports submitted, debris included roof materials, damaged sheds, fence material, siding, tree limbs, and uprooted shrubs.
