Monticello FD responds to six fires in 2017

Monticello Fire Department responded to 12 calls in 2017 - 33.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Monticello included six fires - two structure fires, one vehicle fire and three other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $4,011 in fire loss - or about $669 per fire.

The department also received five false calls.
