Bement Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education met May 3.

The special meeting of the Bement Community Unit School District 5 Board of

Education was held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the FACS room. The meeting
was called to order by board president Kyle Rogers at 6:31 p.m.
Board members present were Kyle Rogers, Jeff Funk, Jeanne Strack, Janice
Fogerson, Trixie Stoerger-Flavin and Todd Scott.
Board member Denise Strack was absent.
David Pistorius from First Midstate spoke to the board regarding the
district’s Health Life Safety Funding Bond, Life Safety Bonds and QZAB
Bonds.
A motion was made by Funk and seconded by J. Strack that the board approve
the resolution setting forth and describing in detail claims heretofore
authorized and allowed for proper school purposes which are presently
outstanding and unpaid, declaring the intention to issue bonds for the
purpose of paying claims against the District and directing that notice of
such intention be published as provided by law. Motion carried by a
unanimous roll call vote.
Board member Denise Strack arrived at 6:45 p.m.
A motion was made by Scott and seconded by D. Strack that the board adjourn
to executive session at 6:52 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment,
compensation, or performance of specific personnel. Motion carried by a
unanimous roll call vote.
Board member Jeff Funk left the meeting at 6:57 p.m.
A motion was made by J. Strack and seconded by Scott that the board adjourn
to open session at 7:01 p.m. Motion carried by a unanimous roll call vote.
A motion was made by Rogers and seconded by Stoerger-Flavin that the board
hire Marika Rosenberger as a high school math teacher for the 2017-2018
school year. Motion carried by a unanimous roll call vote.
A motion was made by Fogerson and seconded by Stoerger-Flavin that the
board adjourn at 7:03 p.m. Motion carried by a unanimous roll call vote.
