At its Nov 23 meeting, the Savoy Planning Commission deferred a request from the developers of the Fieldstone Subdivision for a variance on standard fencing material until the developers can gather a petition showing 75 percent approval from the subdivision's residents.
Village code requires the developers to use only wrought iron fencing. While the trustees acknowledged they had no problem with approving a different style of fencing, they were still obligated by procedure to ask the project's leaders to document resident support for the change.
The only other agenda item, a request from Kenneth Johnson for a special use permit allowing a commercial planned use development, was tabled for a second time because of low commission attendance.
Three of the commission's seven members -- Jackie Martin, Jerry Walsh and Joshua Young -- were absent.
The meeting was adjourned after 20 minutes.
