The Champaign board of education unanimously approved Terry Patton as the new assistant director of facilities at its meeting Monday.
Patton has 34 years of experience in the custodial and maintenance management fields. In addition to a degree in biological engineering, Patton has worked with Urbana's ESS Clean, a commercial contract cleaning service company, for the past 16 years. He currently works as the company's operations manager.
Before ESS, Patton coordinated cleaning and maintenance operations at Christie Clinic and the University of Illinois.
As assistant director of facilities for Unit 4, his duties will include supervision and training of facilities staff, purchasing supplies and equipment, writing training manuals, creating productivity procedures, and the coordination and scheduling of work flow to meet department and district goals. He will assume his new post Dec. 1.
