The Illinois football team has climbed to #9 in the Associated Press Top 25, according to an announcement from the AP on Sunday. The Illini also rose to #9 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, marking a three-spot increase after their 45-19 victory over Duke.

This ranking is Illinois' highest in the AP poll since December 2001.

Head coach Bret Bielema has led the Illini to appearances in 20 AP polls during his first five seasons with the program. This marks the most weeks Illinois has been ranked within any five-year period over the past 35 years.

Illinois will play Western Michigan at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The game is set for a 6 p.m. CT kickoff and will be broadcast on FS1.
