Rep. Mary Miller, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Illinois’ 15th district since 2021, voiced strong criticism of the National Education Association (NEA) and raised concerns about China’s influence in recent posts on her official X account.
On July 25, 2025, Miller accused the largest teachers' union in the country of negatively influencing students, stating: "The largest teachers' union in the United States is waging war on the future of our nation by indoctrinating our children with their leftist ideologies. @NEAtoday’s federal charter must be revoked."
Later that day, Miller commented on perceived threats from China regarding American agriculture and land ownership. She wrote: "China’s goal is simple: control our food production, control our land, and weaken America from within. We are not going to let that happen." In a subsequent post at nearly the same time, she shared an additional link without commentary: "https://t.co/T4f8hittbj"
Miller has represented Illinois's largely rural 15th District since replacing John Shimkus in 2021. Born in Oak Park, Illinois in 1959 and currently residing in Oakland, Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois University.
