On June 2, 2025, the Mittendorf Neighborhood Association organized a block party to mark the installation of solar-powered yard lights. These lights were funded by neighborhood small grant funds. During the event, group leaders engaged with Public Works Engineering staff to discuss the strategic placement of these lights in parkways to deter vehicle break-ins. The installation was carried out by neighborhood volunteers.
Following the success of this project, there are plans to extend lighting along Mittendorf Drive, an area currently lacking street lights.
