Illinois softball faced a setback Friday at Bittinger Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana, as they dropped both games of a Big Ten doubleheader against Purdue.
After the losses, Illinois stands at 18-22 for the season with a 4-10 record in conference play. Purdue emerged from the day with a 24-17 overall record, including a 7-8 record in Big Ten games.
In the opening game, Illinois was defeated by the Boilermakers 6-2. An effort by Stevie Meade, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, was a highlight for Illinois.
The second game extended into 12 innings, with Illinois falling to Purdue 1-0. Meade continued her performance with a 2-for-5 showing, hitting two doubles. Teammates Adisyn Caryl, Alaina Miller, and Paige Berkmeyer each contributed a hit during the game.
