Prairie State taxes: Piatt County residents rank 68th in total sales taxes paid for January

Piatt County taxpayers ranked 68th in total sales taxes paid per county in January, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Piatt County residents paid $204,007 in sales taxes during January.

Piatt County ranked 71st in the Prairie State the month before, with $145,611 spent in sales taxes.

The County School Facility Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Piatt County residents in January.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
