Illinois guard Kylan Boswell has announced that he will be returning for his senior season with the Fighting Illini. The Champaign, Illinois, native shared the news on social media on Wednesday. Boswell was a key player for Illinois, starting 34 of 35 games in the recently concluded season and scoring an average of 12.3 points per game, marking a career-high. He contributed significantly in assists and rebounds as well, with averages of 3.4 and 4.8 per game respectively.
Throughout the season, Boswell scored in double figures 24 times and maintained an average of 16.9 points over the last eight games. His notable performances included a career-high 24 points against Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament and a solid 23 points against Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament.
Boswell also stood out as a top defender, handling various defensive roles effectively. He achieved one of the highlights of his season by securing the seventh triple-double in Illini history against Chicago State on December 29, with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
During the 2024-25 season, Boswell helped guide Illinois to 22 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament's second round. Under the leadership of head coach Brad Underwood, Illinois has been successful in the Big Ten, securing six straight 20-win regular seasons.
