Illinois volleyball has been awarded the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday. This recognition is sponsored by INTENT.

The award, which began in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale throughout the year. In 2025, over 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball programs received this honor, setting a new record for the number of programs recognized for their academic achievements.

INTENT is in its second year of sponsoring this award. The company is known for its digital platform that connects student-athletes and military special ops veterans with employers seeking candidates. It helps guide them toward professional and personal success after sports and service.

This accolade marks the 13th consecutive season that the Fighting Illini program has earned this award. During the 2024-25 campaign, eight student-athletes from Illinois received Academic All-Big Ten honors, while four were recently named distinguished scholars by the league.
