The Fighting Illini women's golf team secured a second-place finish at the Florida State Match Up, ending with a 20-over score of 884. The event took place at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Florida.
Lexanne Halama tied for fifth place, marking her second top-10 finish of the season with a score of 3-over 219. Halama achieved an eagle on hole No. 4 and a birdie on hole No. 14. She recorded a team-best average of 4.50 under par on par-5 holes, ranking tied-for-third-lowest in the tournament. Her total of 35 pars over three days was also tied-for-third-most among competitors.
Victoria Zheng finished tied for seventh, marking her third top-10 placement this season after completing her final round with a score of 75 (+3). Zheng made three birdies in her last round, leading the Illini with a total of eleven over the course of the event.
Anna Ritter concluded the tournament tied for eleventh place with a score of 6-over 222. Ritter scored three birdies on the back nine during her final round. Alongside Zheng, she maintained a team-best scoring average on par-4 holes at 4.10 (+3).
Yurang Li ended up tied for twenty-third following her third round score of 74 (+2), while Brielle Mapanao completed her participation in fifty-ninth place after scoring 79 (+7) in her last round.
Competing individually, Erica Lee also tied for eleventh place, achieving the second-highest finish by an individual competitor with a final-round score of 74 (+2). Lee posted a tournament-best scoring average on par-3 holes at 2.83 (-2).
Florida State hosted and won the team title at an impressive score of 22-under (842), while Mirabel Ting from Florida State claimed individual honors with a remarkable performance at 16-under.
The Fighting Illini are scheduled to compete next at the Boilermaker Spring Classic starting April 6th at Ackerman-Allen Course in West Lafayette, Indiana.
